Creative Worship: Coming

Several weeks ago, God gave me an idea - an evening of Creative Worship at our neighborhood lake. I wanted to see candles sparkle on the water and after it got dark. To visibly be reminded of the darkness of the world before Light entered and communicate that to my sweet littles.

After the idea came, God gave a very similar idea to Ann - the Night Before Advent. I did not want to prepare my Advent calendar so-to-speak but to prepare our hearts for His coming. And the same day I had hoped to carry out our evening of Creative Worship and Preparation was indeed the night before Advent. It seemed a perfect time to slow and kick off our Advent season with the true reason - worship.

We started with just exploring/playing! Then, dinner was shared together and of course hot chocolate was served from vintage plaid thermoses - yum! It was a chilly yet beautiful evening and look below for the moon peeking through the trees!

I had done some planning one morning this week and searching of God's Word to think about what I wanted to share and consider with my littles.

Advent ~ Adventus {Latin} ~ Coming

* We see Him coming through the entire Old Testament; we see the need for Him to come.
* When someone is coming - how do we prepare? We talked about a baby arriving and company arriving - what sorts of things would we do? Clean our home, think of food to serve, clear our calendar, buy diapers or clothing for a new baby.
* How will we prepare for His coming this Advent?
* What are your favorite Christmas traditions? {I asked my children this}
* How can we focus on Christ this month?
* Think about complete darkness and then light; the light of the Advent wreath gets brighter the closer we get to Christmas.
* Isaiah 9:2-7 {the people living in darkness have seen a great light}
* Matthew 11:28-39 {come}
* Genesis 1:3 {let there be light}
* John 1:1-9; great connection because we are memorizing most of this passage in CC this year. "The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world."
* Revelation 22:7, 12, 17 and 20-21; have your children count the number of times they hear the words come/coming!
